CIMA Programming a Hit at Halifax Pop Explosion

CIMA sponsored and hosted four events at Halifax Pop Explosion this past weekend, including a Canadian Blast showcase.

This past weekend, CIMA participated in Halifax Pop Explosion, an annual event that sees more than 180 bands from around the world presenting showcases, networking, and participating in development activities.

On Friday, CIMA was co-sponsored the Pop!Talks/HPX DIGITAL Mixology Mixer, which saw representatives from both the music and digital technology communities convene in a common space to network, share ideas and enjoy some refreshments. Representatives from the political sphere were in attendance as well, with the Mayor of Halifax making an appearance to greet the delegates.

On Saturday morning, CIMA representatives took part in one-on-one consultations with artists and industry professionals, offering insight and advice on how to take their music business to the next level. This was followed in the afternoon with a CIMA Music Export Case Study on Ben Caplan, created in partnership with Music Nova Scotia and SOCAN. The case study focused on defining what music export is, how it can help an artist’s career grow, as well as how artists looking to become export ready can access the support they will need to do so.

On Saturday night, CIMA presented our Canadian Blast showcase at the Seahorse Tavern, in the heart of downtown Halifax. The showcase included performances by Panos (Halifax, NS), Wild Domestic (London, ON), Louise Burns (Vancouver, BC), and Suuns (Montreal, QC). The showcase filled the Seahorse to the brim with both music fans and industry professionals alike.
