Canadian Blast at Iceland Airwaves 2012

Each of the five bands was different, yet they complimented each other, creating another packed, sweaty and exciting Canadian Blast showcase at Iceland Airwaves.

We are back in Iceland for the fourth straight year for our annual Canadian Blast showcase. This year, our partner is the Osheaga Festival from Montreal.

We began with the only act not from Montreal, Halifax singer-songwriter Mo Kenney. Armed with a terrific voice and languid, soft guitar tones, she quietly began the festivities as the crowd began to fill Hresso, our home at Airwaves for the third straight year. By the end of Kenney’s set, the venue was packed and it stayed so for the rest of the showcase.

Technical Kidman followed with frenetic, tongue-and-cheek electro-pop before sextet Passwords took the stage, with two keyboardists, two guitarists and an arsenal of psychedelic rock.

With the venue at capacity, Half Moon Run followed with a gorgeous set of harmonic indie, followed by The Barr Brothers oddball instrumentation, lush tones and saccharine harp accompaniment.

Each of the five bands was different, yet they complimented each other, creating another packed, sweaty and exciting Canadian Blast showcase at Iceland Airwaves.
