This February, CIMA is excited to take part in the 2019 edition of Folk Alliance International. The conference will be returning to Canada this year and will take place from February 13-17 in Montreal, Quebec at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth.
2019 will mark the 30th year of the world’s largest gathering of the folk music industry and community, attracting over 2,800 artists and industry (agents, managers, publishers, promoters and more) dedicated to folk music. For more information about Folk Alliance International click here.
This year CIMA will not be holding a Canadian Blast showcase but will instead be organizing business events for the Canadian delegates throughout the week targeted at creating business opportunities and connections with international participants.
The mission will include:
– Wednesday, February 13: Pan-Canadian Opening Reception in partnership with Folk Music Ontario, Folk Music Canada, Mundial Montreal and the Canadian Federation of Musicians. This event will take place from 5:00PM-6:00PM, prior to the International Folk Music Awards at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth and is open to all delegates attending Folk Alliance.
– Friday, February 15: Country Connections Speed Meeting Sessions in partnership with Sounds Australia, British Underground and the New Zealand Music Commission. This will be held in a speed meeting or round table format and will be a targeted invite-only event for both Canadian and International delegates.
If you are interested in participating in the Country Connections business event please e-mail jenia@cimamusic.ca for more information and to receive your RSVP link. Space is limited.
