Red tape at the border keeps Canadian music out of the United States
(Thursday, April 14, 2016 – Toronto): The Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) will release a new cultural industries report on Monday, April 18 in Toronto. This significant report illustrates the opportunities and challenges that exist for Canadian musicians seeking to play shows and do business in the United States. The report explores how Canadian independent artists face considerable barriers to performing in the US, and outlines solutions to those challenges.
The event will feature special guest speakers, Stuart Johnston, President, CIMA, and Liana White, Executive Director, Canadian Federation of Musicians (CFM). There will also be a special performance by Harrow Fair, the Canadian folk roots duo of Miranda Mulholland and Andrew Penner of the group Sunparlour Players.
