Sebastian Mair (JAPAN) – Born and raised in Toronto, Sebastian started his music industry career in Canada before relocating to Tokyo in 1996. Since that time and co-founding Music Solutions (Hong Kong-Macau / Tokyo), he has been a fixture in the Japanese music industry, consulting for a who’s who of the industry including Rdio, AEG Live, JVC/Victor Entertainment, Live Nation (Japan), Rock Star Touring Artists, Fujipacific Music, Maple Music, Chris Smith Management, Roadrunner Records, Syn Entertainment, Export Music Sweden, Rykodisc, etc.. He was also previously a Cultural Officer at the Embassy of Canada from 2007-2012. On top of that, he’s often a music supervisor for film, television and DVD projects as well as numerous music compilations (Starbucks, Hilton Hotels, Starwood Hotels, etc.) .

PANEL: Northern Exposure: Canadian Market Overview

When: Wednesday, May 6, 2015, 4:00pm – 5:00pm
What: Canadians have an insatiable appetite for new music – their own and everybody else’s. And the profit potential of that demand is the theme of this session, tailored to help our international delegates tap into one of the world’s most vibrant music markets. Our foreign guests will get invaluable insight into our spending habits, the economics of cultural diversity and the demand for digital media. They’ll also get a quick primer on government’s role in the music industry, with an emphasis on building bridges with Canadian exporters.
